"There has never been a time when I was not doodling, sketching or painting .  I was told that Artists are born...not made.  I know this to be true.  I think I could have come from the womb with a pencil in my hand.  Art is as natural to me as breathing."

After formal training Marie has spent many years honing her skills, experimenting and finding herself, in terms of her  strengths, natural expression and her style.  Working primarily in Acrylics, Marie's work embodies an inherent eroticism depicted not only by her subject matter, but also in her choice of earth tones and love of passionate purples.  This sensual atmosphere is also evoked by the loose fluidity of her brush strokes.
Her work is influenced by Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoshka, and Edvard Munch.  These early 20th Century masters started the expressionist movement in Germany,  where the artist seeks to express his own deep feelings and desires through his work.  Vivid intense colors and free flowing brush strokes are used to convey these deep emotions.   Borrowing the constant use of gold and bronze from Klimt, her pieces are embellished and very rich.  Her early graphics  experience still dominates her work however,  keeping the forms precise and proportional.
She states that her work is essentially a celebration of life and beauty.

Her work is very well renowned in the Caribbean, having exhibited widely both there and in Florida.
She is the recipient of many National Competition medals and merits.

Please note that Marie has had a new and exciting life change and name change, as a result she is no longer signing her work as "Scully", but "M Lecky".
